Jo Ellen Smith Living Center offers comprehensive rehabilitation
services including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech
therapy. Our team consists of clinically licensed professionals who are
dedicated specifically to Jo Ellen Smith Living Center. Our rehab
program includes both inpatient and outpatient services and is
structured to provide all-inclusive rehabilitation to individuals with
a wide variety of medical, orthopedic and neurological disorders.
The
Rehab Team, in collaboration with the patient and family, establishes
rehabilitation goals unique to the needs of each patient. Our
professional team is committed to making a difference in the lives of
our patients by helping them achieve their maximum functional level.
This approach meets individual needs, whether it is short-term
rehabilitation before returning home to the community, or staying to
become part of the Jo Ellen Smith Living Center family.
In addition to our daily treatments, we perform the following specialized programs for our residents:

OUR REHAB TEAM
Henry Delatte, P.T.A. Director of Rehab Henry Delatte serves as the Director of Rehabilitation at Jo Ellen Smith Living Center. Upon becoming a member of our rehabilitation team, Mr. Delatte demonstrated a strong level of commitment to program development and to the philosophy of physical rehabilitation. His responsibilities include direct daily contact with residents and their families, as well as providing additional support and guidance to other members of the clinical team. Mr. Delatte’s personal expertise and clinical skills have been acquired through extensive experience in inpatient rehabilitation and acute hospital settings.
Pattie Gros Harris, P.T. Pattie Gros graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. She has practiced in a variety of settings over the past 24 years, including rehabilitation centers, long-term care centers, home health, outpatient facilities and pediatrics. She is NDT certified and has significant experience with head injury and stroke patients. Ms. Gros has been a member of the Jo Ellen Smith Living Center rehabilitation team since 2007.
George LeBlanc, P.T.A. George LeBlanc is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who obtained his degree from Delgado in 1999. He is highly skilled in patient care and has worked in a wide variety of settings including acute care, telemetry, bariatrics, geriatrics, skilled nursing, wound care and outpatient therapy. Mr. LeBlanc has been with the Jo Ellen Smith Rehab family since 2005.
Diana Elam, M.S., CCC-SLP Diana Elam is a recent addition to the Jo Ellen Smith Rehab family. She earned her Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology at Purdue University. Ms. Elam has extensive training in the evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, dysarthria, aphasia, dysphonia and cognitive-linguistic impairment. She has experience working in a variety of settings including acute and outpatient rehabilitation and long-term care. She has treated medically complex patients including those with tracheostomies and ventilators. In addition, Ms. Elam is proficient in foreign languages including French and Italian – and also speaks limited Spanish.
Rita Heinrich-Hellemn, O.T. Rita Heinrich-Hellemn obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy in 1999. She was employed by Ochsner Foundation as a school system therapist in New Orleans and also has had experience in the acute and rehab settings at Ochsner. From 2002-2006, she worked in pediatrics in conjunction with the Early Steps Program. Ms. Heinrich-Hellemn specializes in wheelchair seating and positioning, shoulder dysfunction, NDT and myofascial release. She joined the Jo Ellen Smith Living Center family in 2006.
